I mentioned in a previous post that we were using an Advent calendar with our kids to help spread out the festivities. After brainstorming ideas for the month I simply used place cards in our M. Word and funny enough they had a beach Santa that goes right along with our hot summer Christmas's.

Day 2 of our advent Calendar
We set up our tree on Sunday afternoon and then put up the lights and ornaments after bible study that evening. The children were absolutely excited about get the tree set up. Even though it was in the mid 80's Sunday and wasn't really feeling like Christmas weather, it was so fun to see Tilly and Nate's excitement with each new ornament we pulled out.
Nathan was surprisingly gentle with the ornaments and kept urging us to look at all the different ones he was putting on the tree.
You couldn't help but feel festive with the Christmas music filling the house and our little elves buzzing around. I love Christmas with our little kiddos in the house.
Do you have an special ornaments or ways you decorate the tree?

We used to decorate our tree together and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas afterward with the lamps turned off and just the tree lights on. As the kids got a little older this morphed into playing the movie while we decorated the tree and various ones of us reciting the lines along with the characters. The last few years have been disappointing for me, though. Doing the tree is one of my most-anticipated parts of the holiday, but it has gotten harder and harder to find time when everyone can be home and feel energetic enough to do it together. I'm having to accept that things change, although I have asked the family to try hard for us to do it together again this year. We'll see. Love you photos and description of your time doing this iconic thing!
Every other year Wilson and I have to decorate the tree by ourselves. On alternate years, when the SC kids and grandkids are here for Thanksgiving, we decorate the tree with them.
We put up our tree on Wednesday and finished decorating it yesterday.
Christmas is so much more exciting when there are little ones in the household.
